Description of the Benefits of each Health & Wellness Lab Test

Environmental Toxicities Heavy Metals Lab Test

The benefits of heavy metal tests are important to recognize as their value is immeasurable when heavy metal exposure is suspected. Toxic metals cause serious damage within the body and can affect every organ system causing and/or contributing to brain, nervous system, immune, cardiovascular and hormone problems. Hair metal analysis is excellent for all around assessment of past exposure to heavy metals. Blood testing is worthwhile for recent exposure to various metals like lead and mercury, and urine testing is best used as a baseline prior to heavy metal detoxification or as a way to track metal excretion when undergoing heavy metal detoxification therapy. The benefits of heavy metal tests unfortunately are not regularly appreciated by traditional medicine practitioners, but are often seen as a vital tool in the practices of integrative medicine doctors.  A heavy metals panel is a group of tests that detects and measures specific potentially toxic metals in the blood, urine or, more rarely, in the hair or other body tissue or fluid.  Call us to gain more insight on the benefits of this test.

Micronutrient Lab Test

Your body requires specific amounts of vitamins and minerals known as micronutrients to maintain a baseline function every day. Micronutrients include but are not limited to Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Iron, and Sodium.   While your body only needs a small amount of most micronutrients in a given day, deficiencies can lead to disease.  Micronutrient testing is ideal for individuals who want to prevent disease stay in top health year-round. There are 5 main benefits of testing for micronutrient deficiencies: 1) We bypass the guessing game of which nutrients you may need, and we can create an individualized nutrient plan based on your lab findings; 2) Symptoms can be eliminated just by introducing the correct nutrients that your body needs; 3) Improve function of your organs by providing the right nutrients; 4) Prevent illness by boosting the immune system and function of total antioxidants.  By eliminating the guessing game and taking supplements just to take supplements, we can help you pin point and streamline your nutrients that you actually need! Food Sensitivities Lab Test

Think a food sensitivity could be hampering your well-being? Then you might be considering an elimination diet – or have already tried one. By helping you find the foods you’re sensitive to, elimination diets can minimize or completely obliterate food sensitivity symptoms.   However, if you’re removing foods from your diet at random, then it can take quite a long time before you find the specific foods you’re sensitive to! And that’s why a food sensitivity test can be so powerful: it gives you a specific list of foods that you’re potentially sensitive to based upon the IgG reactivity results. There are five main types of antibodies, one of which is immunoglobulin G – also known as IgG.  If you’re sensitive to a particular food, it may be because some of your IgG antibodies, mistakenly label that food as “dangerous” when it enters your bloodstream. IgG antibodies do this by attaching themselves to certain molecules of that food. So, basically, IgG antibodies can act as markers on that food – which tells your immune system that the food you ate is a threat to your body.  You can then use this list to guide your food elimination plan – saving you time and effort. Microbiome Stool Panel

A stool analysis is a series of tests done on a stool (feces) sample to help diagnose certain conditions affecting the digestive tract. These conditions can include infection (such as from parasites, viruses, or bacteria), poor nutrient absorption, or cancer. detects the presence of pathogenic microorganisms such as yeast, parasites, and bacteria that contribute to chronic illness and neurological dysfunction. It provides helpful information about prescription and natural products effective against specific strains detected in the sample. The test also evaluates beneficial bacteria levels, intestinal immune function, overall intestinal health, and inflammation markers.  Many chronic disorders come from digestive problems and inadequate nutrient absorption. Proper gastrointestinal function is needed to eliminate toxic substances, pathogenic microbes, and undigested food particles from the body to prevent health problems. Nutrients require a specific internal environment to be properly digested and transported throughout the body. Call us to gain more insight on the benefits of this test.

Complete Hormone Panel

Our  Female and Male Comprehensive Hormone Panel tests for thyroid, stress and sex hormones as well as general health marker tests, including a complete blood count (CBC) and chemistry panel, which is a complete metabolic panel with lipids.  As women enter the menopausal years, their bodies’ production of estrogen, progesterone, and other hormones needed to maintain youthful vitality rapidly declines. Continual assessment of hormone levels is necessary for women seeking to maintain a healthy balance.

As men enter the andropause years, their bodies’ production of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), free and total testosterone, and other hormones needed to maintain youthful vitality rapidly declines, while PSA and estrogen may rise. Hormone testing can uncover a wide range of health issues and can be completed for patients of all ages. Hormones are biochemicals that act as messengers throughout one’s body. These compounds can coordinate movements between distant bodily organs, trigger hunger pangs or feelings of satisfaction, inhibit or spur growth, and regulate the metabolism. Among numerous other bodily functions, hormones essentially keep the body in check – delicately balancing sleep with wakefulness, growth with bodily rest, feelings of hunger versus satiety, and overall mood. Hormone testing is an important component to overall health and can help identify and uncover significant health and wellness issues that may have otherwise gone unnoticed.

Cardio Metabolic Lab Test

According to National Cholesterol Educational Panel (NCEP) guidelines, 50 percent of people with “normal” cholesterol levels still have heart attacks. That means even if you’re diligent with your annual preventative health screenings and regularly get positive results from blood work, you could still be at risk for cardiovascular disease. Cardio Metabolic testing  helps define a patient’s risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), progression toward type 2 diabetes (pre-Diabetes), and inflammation.

To determine your general health status; to screen for, diagnose, or monitor any one of a variety of diseases and conditions, such as kidney disease, liver disease, high blood pressure (hypertension) or diabetes; to monitor the use of specific medications that may affect kidney health or liver function.

Brain Neurotransmitter Lab Test

People suffering from problems like anxiety, depression, fatigue, and insomnia often struggle to figure out what’s behind those issues.  Neurotransmitter test can identify imbalances in the body and brain that may be to blame—and that can provide you with the next steps to help get back on the path to optimal health.  Neurotransmitters are the chemical messengers of the nervous system, essential for relaying signals within the brain and communicating with all organ systems of the body.A neurotransmitter imbalance is an underlying cause for the improper functioning of the communication system of the body. Recent medical surveys report that eight out of ten people are found to suffer from neurotransmitter imbalances that ultimately result in general disorders like obesity, migraine headaches, depression, ADHD, and anxiety. Testing helps to determine exactly which neurotransmitter levels are out of balance and helps to determine which therapies are needed for an individualized treatment plan.

Genetics Lab Test

Genetic testing has potential benefits whether the results are positive or negative for a gene mutation. Test results can provide a sense of relief from uncertainty and help people make informed decisions about managing their health care. For example, a negative result can eliminate the need for unnecessary checkups and screening tests in some cases. A positive result can direct a person toward available prevention, monitoring, and treatment options.

Some test results can also help people make decisions about having children. Newborn screening can identify genetic disorders early in life so treatment can be started as early as possible.

Anti-Aging Telomere Lab Test

Telomeres are sections of genetic material at the end of each chromosome whose primary function is to prevent chromosomal “fraying” when a cell replicates. As a cell ages, its telomeres become shorter.

Eventually, the telomeres become too short to allow cell replication, the cell stops dividing and will ultimately die—a normal biological process. Telomere length may be indicative of cellular aging and increased susceptibility to metabolic disorders and chronic disease. Knowing more about the status of telomere length may encourage those with prematurely shortened telemores to seriously consider making lifestyle changes that can positively impact their health.  Shorter telomeres have been associated with cardiovascular disease, inflammatory disorders, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, cognitive decline, and other chronic degenerative conditions normally associated with aging.

Adopting healthy or avoiding unhealthy lifestyle choices can contribute to telomere length in healthy cells and possibly contribute to longevity.
