Kayla Giorno, CCT
Kayla Giorno, CCT headshoot

Kayla Giorno, CCT, uses thermography to detect subtle physiologic changes accompanying pathologies such as fibrocystic disease, vascular disease, infection, cancer and sports injuries.

Thermography is an imaging technology, using digital infrared thermal imaging, and is a state-of-the-art diagnostic technique.

Kayla Giorno’s Credentials include:

  • Certified Cardiographic Technician

Thermography, Certified Cardiographic Technician

Kayla is inspired by proactive preventative methods for detecting diseases in humans and animals. Using digital infrared thermal imaging (DITI) Kayla detects subtle changes in the skin’s surface temperature. The technology creates a color map that reflects the skin’s temperature differences.

Thermography can look at the organs, skin, muscle, ligaments, bones, joints, myofascial system, lymph system, immune system, and more. The only thing thermography cannot detect is the brain and genitals.

Kayla has uses Thermography to identify breast pathologies, sports injuries and muscle strains, integrating it with our biofeedback machine “ONDAMED” as a treatment modality. This uses Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) combined with pulse biofeedback to enable Kayla to relieve pain, improve cell function and circulation, and promote relaxation.

Annie Henderson, DNP, PMHNP-BC
A woman with shoulder-length brown hair, wearing a white blouse and a pearl necklace, smiles at the camera against a beige background.

Annie Henderson, DNP, PMHNP-BC, brings over 25 years of healthcare experience and a rare combination of clinical depth, psychiatric expertise, and a genuine commitment to root-cause medicine. As a Doctor of Nursing Practice and ANCC board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Annie joined Serenity Health Care Center to expand the practice’s capacity for comprehensive, integrative mental health care — and to serve as the clinical lead for medication management and deprescribing through the TaperClinic.

Annie’s path into mental health was forged in the trenches of healthcare. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Carroll-Columbia College of Nursing in 2000, she spent years working across diverse clinical settings — witnessing firsthand how profoundly mental health shapes every aspect of a person’s physical well-being. That insight became a calling. She pursued her advanced training with purpose, accumulating eight years of hands-on experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings before completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Rush University in 2023.

What sets Annie apart is not only her clinical training — it is her philosophy. She believes the most meaningful psychiatric care begins with truly knowing a person: their biology, their history, their environment, and their goals. Annie creates a warm, judgment-free space where patients feel seen and heard, and where the goal is never simply to manage symptoms — it is to understand what is driving them.

A Functional Approach to Psychiatry

Annie is currently completing a year-long functional psychiatry fellowship — an intensive, clinically focused program that examines the biological, nutritional, hormonal, genetic, environmental, and psychosocial roots of psychiatric conditions. This training is reshaping how she approaches every patient encounter.

Functional psychiatry does not replace conventional care — it elevates it. Annie integrates evidence-based psychiatric medicine with advanced testing to identify and correct the underlying biochemical imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, hormonal disruptions, and systemic factors that conventional psychiatry rarely investigates. For patients who have tried medication after medication without ever feeling truly well, this approach can be transformative.

Clinical Specialties

Annie specializes in the evaluation and treatment of:

  • Depressive disorders, including treatment-resistant depression
  • Anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive and related disorders
  • Trauma and stress-related disorders (PTSD, complex trauma)
  • Eating disorders
  • Sleep disorders and circadian dysregulation
  • ADHD in adolescents and adults

Annie sees adolescents age 12 and older through adults, bringing a certified lifespan perspective to her practice while focusing her clinical experience where it is deepest: adolescent and adult mental health.

Medication Management & the TaperClinic

In addition to her integrative mental health practice, Annie serves as the clinical lead for medication oversight within Serenity’s TaperClinic — a specialized, structured deprescribing program designed for patients who are ready to safely reduce or discontinue psychiatric medications under expert clinical supervision. This is precise, compassionate, protocol-driven care for a patient population that has historically been underserved.

“Mental health is never just in the mind. It is in the mitochondria, the microbiome, the hormones, the sleep cycles, and the story a person has been carrying for years. My job is to look at all of it — and to help each patient find a path that actually works for them.”

— Annie Henderson, DNP, PMHNP-BC
